MINERALS AND ROCKS WORKSHOP WITH SUBSEQUENT VISIT TO CAVE WITH MNERA ARCHEOLOGY AND MINERAL OUTCOMES.
Workshop of minerals and rocks, both those that were exploited in the mines themselves, like others that occur in nature. We will see the most important physical properties, of some minerals such as Galena, the Blend or Sphalerite, the calcite, and the dolomite, and sedimentary rocks such as Limestone and Dolomite and also some volcanic and plutonic rocks, seeing the differences, as well as the most common uses that can be obtained in everyday life.
“Activities with minerals, rocks”, whose main objective is to show participants how different rocks and minerals are used to manufacture most of the things that we use daily in our lives., Likewise, we will take the opportunity to see some of the physical properties of rocks and minerals., how can they be:
.- Effervescence that certain rocks present when treated with diluted hydrochloric acid. 20 %.
.- Fluorescence that certain minerals may have when exposed to UV rays.
.- See solubility of some minerals such as Halite.
.- Sandstone and Calcite scratches on crystal. Difference between those rocks.
.- Color of the streak of certain minerals when scratched on a porcelain plate.
.- Checking the hardness of some minerals on the Mohs scale.
.- Solubility of CaCO3 (Calcium Carbonate) in water and subsequently adding hydrochloric acid to the 20%.
All this in the surroundings of an open-air mine and with an area of abandoned galleries with easy access and a tour accessible to children and adults., within the Udías municipality, Cantabria.
2.- Visit after completing the workshop for a tour that consists of approximately 600 metros, through an area of old galleries where the miners extracted the mineral.
The estimated duration of the excursion is 1 – 2 hours, including here, the time of the 45 approximately minutes that the initial workshop lasts.

The main objective is to show participants the different morphological aspects and most significant characteristics of the mine and its environment., both in the arrangement of galleries and the outcropping of the rocks and minerals that were exploited, in addition to the observation of mining archaeology.
Remains of mining archeology represented by an ancient minecart and pisolites or pearls from the caves along the route.
Participants can also take photographs of the route and the minerals and all the mining archeology that exists on the route..
The objectives would be to be able to distinguish some mineral and recognize the types of utensils and in general all the mining archeology that can be seen on the tour..

The excursion is done with a Maximum of 30 participants and a minimum of 8 participants.
DEPARTURE AND ARRIVAL POINTS.
The beginning and end of the excursion would be at our base in Pumalverde, in front of the church, or depending on the number of participants, the excursion could begin and end in an area close to the mine entrance.. (Check areas).
EXCURSION PRICES:
The price is 15.00 euros per child. Regardless of whether the participant leaves our base in Pumalverde (In front of the church) or that the bus leaves the participant near the mine entrance. If each child is accompanied by a tutor, the fee is 25 euros child and companion or guardian. (Check rates for teachers of schools with groups of children).
GENERAL CONDITIONS OF THE EXCURSION
The excursion is only suitable for people without disabilities or mild disabilities, (consult access and route), with ages over 6 years, that they can walk the proposed route.

The duration of the excursion is 2-3, hours in the morning or afternoon depending on the day the excursion takes place, any day of the week.

Pets are not allowed on the tour.
